In a startling incident on the morning of Monday, October 23, a senior police officer was robbed of his pistol during a robbery that occurred in Kingeero, Kiambu County.

The victim, an inspector of police responsible for overseeing the Mwimuto police post, fell prey to a group of three armed individuals who were also armed with pistols. During the brazen attack that occurred at 1 a.m., the officer was forcibly relieved of his Jericho pistol. The pistol was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

According to the officer, he had visited his colleague’s residence to hand over a case file when the attack took place.

The assailants caught him off guard while he was waiting for the gate to be opened. The armed robbers ordered both the police officer and his colleague to lie down on the ground. They then demanded the surrender of all their valuables before seizing the officer’s weapon. The gang then escaped from the scene.

Subsequently, a search operation was launched, but regrettably, no arrests had been made by the time of going to press. The stolen Jericho pistol, bearing serial number 44332418, and loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, still remains missing.

Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an extensive manhunt to locate and apprehend the culprits involved in this audacious robbery.

The incident occurred less than 48 hours after a lone gunman was shot dead at Mathiakani Bridge in Nguni, Kitui. The man was shot while trying to rob the occupants of a Toyota Prado.

It turned out the vehicle occupants were police officers attached to President Ruto’s security advisor Monica Juma. The two were headed to Nuu, in Mwingi East – the rural home of Dr. Juma.

Several items including an AK-47 rifle, and 38 rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the gunman.
