The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has decided to reschedule the member recruitment drive in Nairobi to December 7, moving it from its initially planned date.
The recruitment, which was originally slated to start on November 24 across all wards in Nairobi County, has been postponed, as communicated by ODM Nairobi County Chairman George Aladwa.
While no explicit reasons were provided for the postponement, Aladwa mentioned that the party leader, Hon Raila Odinga, will preside over the recruitment drive, and the venue details will be communicated later.
The Raila Odinga-led party initiated the recruitment drive in preparation for the grassroots election scheduled for March 2024 and to bolster the party’s image leading up to the 2024 polls. On November 11th, Odinga spearheaded the exercise in various counties, including Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Kisumu.
“We will be electing officials starting from the smallest unit, which is the polling station. Subsequently, we will progress to the ward, Sub County, and ultimately the county,” stated Odinga. The culmination of these elections will be the National Delegates Convention (NDC), during which members will participate in electing the national officials of the party.
