The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Thursday, December 22, arrested a member of the Isiolo County Assembly in sting operation that netted bhang worth millions of shillings.
According to police reports released by the DCI, the MCA was arrested in a joint sting operation between a police multi-agency team and the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit.
The suspects were arrested in the outskirts of Isiolo town. The two male individuals, aged 27 and 25, were intercepted while driving a white Landcruiser within Isiolo Town.
One of the arrested suspects has been identified as a current Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Isiolo County.
The DCI statement detailed that the team proceeded to a residence in Kambi Garba Estate, located on the outskirts of Isiolo town, where they discovered six gunny bags containing 57 stones of the prohibited herb.
The DCI further disclosed that the confiscated marijuana was transported to the DCI headquarters for additional processing, while the suspects underwent investigative interviews.
