A 20-year-old woman, missing from her home for two weeks, was found raped and murdered in Kinale forest, Kiambu County, on Monday.
Local authorities reported that the girl’s lifeless body was found abandoned in the forest, bearing signs of sexual assault and covered in blood. In response to the gruesome discovery, her body was transferred to the Naivasha District Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy is pending.
Residents of the area expressed concerns about Kinale forest, describing it as a hotspot for criminal activities such as murder. They recounted several cases that have occurred in the forest, highlighting the need for increased security measures.
Adamson Furaha, the Lari sub-county police commander, confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations were underway. Furaha stated that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had determined that the victim was raped and murdered elsewhere, with her body subsequently dumped in the forest.
“We have started investigations to establish what happened, whether she was raped, how she was killed, and how the body was brought to the area. Investigations will shed more light,” Furaha said.
Accompanied by police officers, Kinale Assistant County Commissioner Rebecca Chepkemoi, and her assistant chiefs, Furaha emphasized the need to uncover the circumstances surrounding the heinous crime.
A relative of the victim revealed that the young woman went missing two weeks prior when she was sent to buy sugar. She resided in Kenton Village near Flyover in South Kinangop. The motive behind the incident remains unknown, as authorities continue their efforts to piece together the details of this tragic event.
