Rukiya Khatib, the wife of Changamwe Member of Parliament Omar Mwinyi, has passed away.
Reports indicate that Rukiya suddenly fell ill on Monday night and was rushed to Pandya Hospital for treatment, where she unfortunately succumbed to her illness.
Her body has been transported to her residence in Portreitz, where preparations are underway for her final resting place later today.
According to Ibrahim Kilai, the MP’s personal assistant, Rukiya will be laid to rest in the Mwingo area following the 1:00 pm prayer.
Leaders across the political spectrum have expressed their condolences for Rukiya’s passing.
On Tuesday morning, the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) extended their sympathies to Mwinyi stating, “We commiserate with you and your family at this very difficult moment of grief and pray to Allah SWT to grant you peace during these trying times.”
