Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is set to enhance its offerings with the upcoming launch of a state-of-the-art lounge, catering to the rising needs of both local and international travelers.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) issued a notice on Monday, January 29, unveiling the new facility at JKIA named Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi.

Occupying an expansive area of 366 square meters, the Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi is designed with ultra-modern amenities that adhere to global standards. With a capacity to host 150 guests simultaneously, it is expected to significantly augment the holding capacity of the international airport.

Key features of the Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi include luxurious seating, high-speed Wi-Fi, and designated workspaces. The grand opening of this facility is scheduled for February 2, 2024, marking a significant step towards elevating JKIA to meet international standards.

The inauguration of Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi will coincide with the official commissioning of new generators at JKIA. The Kenya Airports Authority had previously announced that these generators would be commissioned this week after undergoing thorough testing.

“The committee inspected ongoing works of the facility’s rooftop; They also inspected the airport’s new generators undergoing testing before their commissioning next week,” stated the KAA.

In addition to these developments, various rehabilitation initiatives are in progress to revamp JKIA, addressing concerns such as the previously reported issues with leaking roofs. The commitment to ongoing improvements demonstrates JKIA’s dedication to providing a world-class experience for travelers.
