A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Kericho after he fatally stabbed his wife in front of her parents.
The tragic event occurred on Friday, January 26, as the suspect traveled from Borborwet to his wife’s residence to address their domestic issues.
The victim, Lonah Chepkemoi, 27, had left the suspect’s home following a disagreement, prompting him to pursue her to her parents’ house in an attempt to resolve their differences.
A quarrel ensued between the couple, leading the man to stab Chepkemoi on the left side of her neck.
She was swiftly taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Upon visiting the scene, the police found that the suspect had been detained by the local chief.
A blood-stained kitchen knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered by the officers.
To restore order, two warning shots were fired into the air, dispersing the crowd that had gathered.
The suspect, who narrowly avoided harm, is now in police custody as investigations are underway to determine the motive behind his actions.
Chepkemoi’s body is preserved at a mortuary, awaiting autopsy results.
