The Star Newspaper journalist, Dickens Wasonga, has been confirmed dead following a road accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning at the Mamboleo flyover on the Kisumu-Kakamega road.

Allan Mwangi, the Nyanza Regional Traffic Officer, reported that the late Wasonga, who was based in Kisumu County, collided with a moving trailer while driving his vehicle.

According to Mwangi, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction at the time of the accident.

At the time of his death, Wasonga was working for the Star newspaper bureau in Kisumu. He was also the chairperson of the Kisumu Journalists Network (KJN).

Wasonga has been described by his colleagues as a straightforward and dedicated journalist who undertook his work diligently.

As of now, Wasonga’s body is at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary.

The wreckage of his car has been towed to Kondele Police Station, awaiting further directives in the ongoing investigation into the incident.
