One of the surprise shockers of the just released 2023 KCSE results is that the school that topped last year’s exams is nowhere among the top performers.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) was on Monday forced to dismiss claims that Nyambaria High School had once again topped the 2023 KCSE.
KNEC flagged a post claiming that the school based in Nyamira County achieved a mean grade of A.
We have since established that KNEC has withheld the results of the little known school from Nyamira that shocked everyone last year because of suspected irregularities.
Also withheld are are the results of another other top performers in last year’s exam from the Gusii region Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School and Nyakongo Boys.
Nyambaria High School first hit headlines in 2022 after it posted impressive results in KCSE.
According to the results, the school had a mean score of 10.89, an improvement from their previous results of (9.31).
28 students scored an A (plain) 383 students got an A (minus) and 76 got a B+ with the last student scoring a B (plain).
Last year however, the school’s principal Charles Onyari was suspended over alleged exam irregularities.
