Rwandan President Paul Kagame has cited witchcraft and corruption as reasons he refrains from watching local football matches.
During the national dialogue “Umushyikirano” in Kigali, Kagame expressed concerns about the prevalence of these issues in local football, leading him to cease attendance at matches since 2016.
He emphasized that he would only consider attending tournaments again if they were free from corruption and witchcraft. Kagame had previously criticized these practices in August 2023, stating that reliance on witchcraft is primitive and detrimental to the country’s progress in sports.
