The lifeless body of a 30-year-old fisherman, identified as Peter Murunga Omoding’, was discovered adrift on the waters of Lake Victoria, near Uhanya beach in Bondo sub-county. Suspicions of drowning surround the tragic incident.

On Wednesday, the body of Omoding’ was spotted along the lakeshore, prompting swift action from local authorities. Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo revealed that the Assistant Chairman of Uhanya Beach Management Unit, Naphtaly Oduor, reported the discovery to Usenge police station. Oduor informed authorities that local fishermen had come across the body floating on the lake.

Responding to the report, officers from Uhanya police patrol base swiftly arrived at the scene. With the assistance of members of the public, they successfully retrieved the deceased’s body. Omoding’, originally from Teso in Busia County, had met his unfortunate fate while pursuing his livelihood on Lake Victoria.

Kimaiyo confirmed the incident, noting that the body exhibited no apparent physical injuries. The remains were transferred to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary, where they await a postmortem examination. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Omoding’s untimely demise are currently underway.
