Australian authorities are probing an allegation made by a paparazzo who claims he was assaulted by Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, in Sydney.
The incident reportedly occurred early on Tuesday at a wharf in Sydney, where Ben McDonald, 51, alleges that Scott Swift, 71, struck his face. The altercation purportedly took place shortly after Swift and his daughter, the pop megastar Taylor Swift, disembarked from a boat and were met by photographers.
According to police reports, McDonald did not require medical attention following the incident, and Scott Swift has refrained from making any public statements regarding the matter.
Footage released by Australian media captures the singer, shielded beneath an umbrella, walking with her father and security personnel along Neutral Bay Wharf around 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT Monday). In the video, flashes from cameras illuminate the scene, followed by voices—allegedly a photographer and a security guard—accusing each other of interfering with umbrellas. However, it remains unclear whether the footage captured the alleged assault.
The incident occurred following Taylor Swift’s performance to another capacity crowd as part of her highly successful Eras tour, marking the final Australian concert of the tour.
New South Wales Police confirmed that McDonald reported the incident, prompting an investigation by officers from the North Shore Police Area Command. The inquiry aims to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and any potential ramifications.
