A prison constable, identified as Linda Machuma Wafula, reportedly took her own life inside her rented residence in Tumaini Estate, Kitale.
The tragic discovery was made when neighbors reported a noxious odor emanating from her house.
According to official police statements, Ms. Wafula was last seen at her residence on February 1, and her lifeless body was found on Sunday. Upon responding to the reports, officers found her body positioned against a double-decker bed, with an electric cord still tied around her neck.
The police report indicated that no suicide note was found during a subsequent search of her home. Crime scene investigators processed the scene, and Ms. Wafula’s body was then transported to the Cherangany Nursing Home Mortuary.
Police have called out on persons with challenges to seek help for mental treatment.
