A 47-year-old man from Mung’ang’a, Miambani in Kitui County passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment for machete wounds sustained during a suspected land dispute.
According to Muthoka Kilonzo, the area chief, the man had been admitted to Kitui Level 4 Hospital, where his family rushed him for treatment.
The chief reported that the victim raised the alarm when he was attacked. However, when his family reached the scene, he had already been attacked, and the assailants had fled.
In the wake of the incident, three suspects were apprehended as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack commenced.
“We suspect that the assault is connected to a land dispute, but we are conducting a thorough investigation and urge members of the community to assist us by providing any information they may have,” stated the chief.
