A woman’s impromptu dance session with Nigerian singer Omah Lay has captured attention, igniting controversy after she abandoned her boyfriend in the crowd to join the artist on stage.
During one of his concerts, Omah Lay singled out the woman from the audience, inviting her to join him on stage. She readily accepted the offer, leaving her boyfriend behind as she took the spotlight alongside the singer.
Their on-stage chemistry was evident as they danced together, with the curtains discreetly closing, leaving only a silhouette of their intimate performance.
In response to the ensuing backlash, the woman stepped forward to address the situation, expressing her remorse and fear over the onslaught of criticism.
“I want to publicly apologize to him, and obviously, he and I have had a private conversation. We spoke, but since it was public, I think the right thing to do is to publicly apologize to him. That was honestly a mistake,” she stated in a released statement.
She clarified misconceptions, refuting claims that her boyfriend had purchased the concert tickets. “I am the one that bought the tickets. I wanted him to have a good time because we are young,” she asserted.
Moreover, she revealed that she and her boyfriend had previously discussed the possibility of her going on stage if called upon by an artist.
“If you really know Omah Lay, you’ll know that he’s done this in past concerts. This is what he does; it’s nothing new,” she explained. “We had this conversation, and I said to him, ‘If I was to get called on stage, I’m going to go on stage,’ and he said that’s fine. He’s been saying that’s fine. We never had an issue with me going on stage even when the time came.”
She concluded by expressing her genuine excitement, citing Omah Lay as one of her favorite artists. “I was just genuinely happy,” she affirmed.
The couple, who had been together for one and a half years, now find themselves at the center of a public debate sparked by a spontaneous moment of stage interaction.
