Controversial pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a expressed his frustration after feeling sidelined at Pastor Benny Hinn’s crusade held at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday. Despite the event being broadcast on his church’s TV channel, Ng’ang’a lamented the lack of recognition and his distant seating arrangement from the main stage.
At his Neno Evangelism Ministry church in Nairobi the following day, Ng’ang’a voiced his displeasure, stating, “I am a man of tactics. I was put to sit somewhere at a table that was not so close. I was only recognised once. Greet somebody and tell them to mind your own business.”
While Ng’ang’a’s Sasa TV aired Hinn’s event, he felt snubbed at the live gathering, where he observed a performance he found lacking. Pastor Ng’ang’a criticised Hinn, describing him as a diminished figure compared to his former self.
According to Ng’ang’a, who attended the crusade to witness Hinn’s ministry in action, the American televangelist struggled during the service, failing to leave a positive impression. “I went to the meeting. I just went to see how God uses him. I will not speak now, but something is wrong. That man struggled. He struggled. He is a singer and he sang in my presence, but he struggled,” he remarked.
The crusade, which commenced on Saturday, February 24, and concluded on Sunday, February 25, saw the attendance of high-profile figures such as First Lady Rachel Ruto, who had extended the invitation to Hinn. Despite the event’s significance, Ng’ang’a’s disappointment highlighted underlying tensions and discrepancies in the recognition and performance dynamics of religious leaders within the faith community.
