A 70-year-old man, who was being pursued after allegedly killing his nephew on Monday in Togonye, Kirinyaga County, has been found dead.

Relatives disclosed that Patrick Gichobi was found suspended from a tree on Tuesday evening by individuals who were searching for cattle fodder.

“We found him hanging from a mango tree. We suspect he hanged himself after killing Ian,” Joan Mwangi recounted to Citizen Digital.

Gichobi reportedly fatally stabbed 24-year-old Ian Mwendia following their return home on Monday around 5 pm from a drinking session at a local village bar, relatives said.

After a dispute, the 70-year-old purportedly stabbed Mwendia with a kitchen knife. Mwendia later succumbed to his injuries at Kerugoya Hospital.

Both bodies have been transported to Kerugoya mortuary for further proceedings.
