A Nairobi court is expected to issue a ruling providing guidance in a case brought forth by the Rastafari Society of Kenya (RSK).
The case filed by the civil group aims to challenge the legality of laws criminalizing the use of marijuana.
The RSK contends that these laws are unconstitutional as they prohibit the private consumption of cannabis by individuals practicing the Rastafari faith.
Asserting their religious freedom, Rastafarians are advocating for the permission to use cannabis within their residences and places of worship. According to Rastafarians, bhang is a weed that falls under the classification of green consumable products, just like vegetables.
