The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Frida Mokaya Boyani as the new Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, filling the vacancy left by Anne Amadi’s retirement on January 12, 2024.

Mokaya emerged as the preferred candidate after the JSC interviewed seven shortlisted applicants out of the 43 who had applied for the position. The interview process took place on Monday, March 18.

As Chief Registrar, Mokaya will be responsible for various administrative tasks, including overseeing the Judiciary Fund, preparing expenditure estimates, and managing procurement functions, among others.

Prior to her appointment as Chief Registrar, Mokaya served as the JSC Registrar since 2012, following a distinguished tenure as a Senior Principal Magistrate. With over 27 years of experience in the legal field, Mokaya brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.

Among the other candidates shortlisted for the position were Macharia Rose Wachuka, Ouma Jack Busalile Mwimali, Wambeti Anne Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen, and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.
