A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his brother in a village in Makueni County. The tragic incident occurred in Kimani/Syiluni village, Kiini sub-location, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police reports, the suspect also inflicted serious injuries on his 75-year-old mother during the altercation. The suspect is reported to have had a dispute with his 27-year-old brother, Dominic Kyalo Kioko before he proceeded to attack him with a sharp object.

Kioko sustained several deep cuts on his head and right hand before he succumbed to his injuries.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers discovered the body of Kioko lying on the shamba approximately 100 meters from their homestead.

The deceased’s mother attempt to intervene and restrain the suspect, resulted in her sustaining a deep cut on her right-hand finger. She then raised an alarm, prompting villagers to respond and subdue the suspect.

A blood-stained panga (machete) and a blood-stained grey khaki trouser were recovered from the suspect’s bedroom by the police. The body of the deceased was transported to the Mbooni West subcounty hospital morgue for a postmortem examination.
