A joint security task force conducted a targeted operation based on intelligence at an al Shabaab stronghold in the Alango area of Garissa County, resulting in the seizure of various materials used in the manufacturing of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

During the operation carried out on Sunday morning, the team also recovered an AK47 rifle, two magazines, backpacks, and assorted food items.

According to police reports, three individuals believed to be skilled in assembling explosives managed to evade capture during the operation. Efforts to apprehend them were underway as of Sunday afternoon.

“We are determined to bring them to justice,” stated an official involved in the operation.

Security agencies are urging residents of Garissa to promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals linked to terrorism. This call for cooperation aims to enhance the safety and security of the country.
