Two individuals tragically lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a collision involving two private vehicles at Rakwaro area on the Rongo-Awendo highway in Migori County.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the vehicle carrying the now deceased and the two injured persons was traveling from Awendo towards Rongo when it collided head-on with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

According to a police report on the Thursday evening accident, the driver of the vehicle heading towards Rongo attempted to overtake a motorcycle, leading to the collision with the oncoming vehicle.

Tragically, two female passengers lost their lives on the spot, while two others in the same vehicle sustained severe injuries. The injured individuals were promptly transported to Rongo Sub-county Hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to Migori Referral Hospital for further medical care.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Rosewood pending the conclusion of police investigations into the incident.
