A team of detectives is currently investigating the murder of a woman whose body was discovered dumped at City Park in Parklands, Nairobi.
The victim, identified as Rosemary Shikoku, aged 35, was found deceased on Sunday at the park. Her hands were bound with a rope behind her back, and she had facial injuries.
A passerby who came across the body informed the police, leading to the discovery.
Adjacent to the body, investigators found a bag suspected to belong to Shikoku, containing her identification waiting card and a police abstract issued at Kamukunji police station. Assorted clothing was also discovered nearby.
Police believe the murder occurred elsewhere, as there was no indication of blood at the scene, and it showed no signs of disturbance.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei stated that detectives are probing the incident to determine where the woman was killed.
The body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, as the motive behind the murder remains unknown, and no arrests have been made thus far.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating an incident in Dandora, Nairobi, where a garbage collector, Alex Mwendwa, was fatally stabbed in an attack by a rival group.
Dandora, home to the city’s dumping site, often witnesses violent conflicts among garbage collectors over control of the territory.
Mwendwa was attacked at his friend’s house within Baraka Mowlem, and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to multiple injuries at Mama Lucy Hospital.
One suspect was apprehended by a mob and handed over to the police, who are conducting further investigations into the incident. Additional suspects are also being sought in connection with the murder.
A significant operation is planned at the dump site as part of the ongoing probe into Mwendwa’s murder.
