A tragic bus accident occurred at Mamboleo area, Kisumu County, resulting in the death of one student from Chavakali Boys High School and several others sustaining injuries.
The incident took place when the students were traveling home aboard an Easy Coach bus, which overturned at the Mamboleo junction around 9:00 pm.
According to a report from the Kondele Police Station, the driver of the bus was absent from the scene when authorities arrived.
The police report detailed that the accident transpired as the vehicle was navigating the Coptic roundabout en route from Kakamega towards Kisumu. The driver lost control of the bus, leading it to collide with a rail guard before overturning and coming to a rest on its left side.
Two students suffered severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu, while 32 others are undergoing medical care at Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.
