On Wednesday, a woman named Hannah Wanjiru Waithaka was arraigned at the Kikuyu Law Courts in Kiambu, accused of defrauding a businessman of Ksh.11 million in a fake land sale deal.
Before Magistrate Stella Kanyili, Waithaka faced charges of obtaining Ksh.11 million from James Muturi Kimani on March 1, 2024, alongside others not present in court. The charge alleged that she falsely represented that she was selling him a piece of land known as Karai Gikambura 1048.
Waithaka pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail set at Ksh.1 million or Ksh.300,000 in cash. The magistrate scheduled the case for mention on May 6, 2024, when a hearing date will be determined.
