Former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has urged leaders within the ODM party to stop blaming Suna East MP Junet Mohamed for Raila Odinga’s defeat in the 2022 presidential election.

Joho defended Junet, highlighting his dedication and efforts during the campaign. “Some claim Junet is the reason Baba lost, but what power does one person have?” he questioned.

Joho emphasized that Junet, who is currently the National Assembly Minority Whip, was tireless in his commitment to the campaign. He noted that Junet only went to bed after Raila and was always the first to wake up, striving to secure victory for the Azimio leader.

“I know Junet Mohamed well. In Nairobi, he is a crucial and dedicated servant of Raila Amollo Odinga. During the campaigns, Junet never slept until Baba went to bed and he was up before Baba. In Mombasa, the first call I received was always from Junet, and it was the same for many others here,” Joho said.

Joho also mentioned that some individuals joined the campaign later with the intent to undermine Junet. He insisted that it is time to move past the issues surrounding the 2022 presidential election.

He accused those pushing the blame on Junet of having ulterior motives aimed at destroying the ODM party.
