Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced on Monday that he will undertake a self-imposed silence lasting four months.
Kuria pledged not to participate in any political discourse until August 2024. He indicated that he would hold a press conference at that time, which he claimed would significantly alter the political landscape of Kenya.
“I will be issuing a major announcement that will change the political future and landscape of Kenya on 20th August 2024 at 10 am,” CS Kuria stated.
In announcing his vow of silence, Kuria said, “Until then, I will not issue a political position or opinion on any issue.”
This isn’t the first time Moses Kuria has threatened to remain silent following political frustrations.
After his poor performance in the Kiambu gubernatorial contest in August 2022, Kuria declared he would no longer engage with Kenyans on social media. However, that vow lasted less than a week, as he soon resumed criticizing the opposition for their reluctance to recognize William Ruto as the duly elected President of Kenya.
Kuria’s latest frustration stems from perceived slights by the National Government and leaders from his home region.
The CS previously complained about President William Ruto inviting Kiambu leaders to State House without his knowledge. He argued that discussions regarding Kiambu should not occur without his presence, given his senior status as a cabinet member.
Additionally, Kuria expressed dissatisfaction that former Members of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni and Martha Karua held high-profile political meetings, including the Limuru 3 rally, without inviting him.
