Former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has secured a new government position months after her dismissal from the Cabinet in July 2024.
President William Ruto has nominated Nakhumicha as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat in Nairobi. The announcement was made on March 20, 2025, as part of a broader restructuring of the government.
Earlier this month, Nakhumicha opened up about her life after being removed from office, revealing that she had turned to farming. Speaking at the memorial service of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati in Kitale, she shared that she had been selling cabbages in Cherangany to make ends meet.
Her dismissal came as part of a major Cabinet reshuffle following public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.
