Police at Muthangari Police Station have launched investigations into a fatal shooting incident involving a bodyguard attached to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed. The officer, identified as Muhammed Yusuf Keinan, reportedly shot and killed a man in Muthangari, Nairobi, on Sunday night.
According to a police report, Keinan was walking home at around 8:00 PM when he was confronted by three men. “One of the men struggled and snatched his Ceska Pistol s/no. F4899, but he took hold of it by the muzzle and eventually recaptured it back. One of the men blocked him, and he shot severally in the air to scare them,” the report states.
In the course of the altercation, Keinan fired multiple shots, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Amos Lang’at. The other two men reportedly fled the scene on a motorbike.
Keinan, who sustained injuries on his arm, has since been disarmed and admitted to the hospital. The body of the deceased has been moved to Chiromo Mortuary as investigations begin.
Authorities are now working to reconstruct the events of the incident. Police plan to revisit the scene, collect witness statements, and retrieve any available CCTV footage to analyze the moments leading up to the shooting.
