Prominent activist Hanifa Adan is one of five new voices joining the Nation Media Group (NMG) as part of a fresh lineup of columnists unveiled on Tuesday, April 22. The announcement comes amid ongoing restructuring at the media house.

Known for her outspoken criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration on social media, Hanifa will now be contributing regularly to the Daily Nation. Her debut column, titled We’re not going anywhere, and we won’t wait for your permission, was published on Tuesday.

Joining her at NMG is investigative writer Nelson Amenya, who gained national attention for his exposé on the controversial Adani deal involving Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

In a statement, NMG described the new lineup as “a new generation of columnists,” characterizing them as “thought rebels, policy disruptors, truth tellers, and justice architects.”

“They don’t play safe, they write to wake us up,” the statement read.

Other new columnists introduced by the media group include veteran journalist Kwamchetsi Makokha, political analyst Lewis Ngunyi, and public health advocate Dr Stellah Bosire.
