Kiss FM’s beloved breakfast show presenters, Kerry Martin and Sheila Kwamboka—popularly known as Kwambox—have officially announced their departure from the Lion Place-based station, marking Wednesday, April 30, 2025, as their final day on air.
Kwambox, who has built a formidable presence on radio over the years, shared a heartfelt message with her fans, signalling the end of a defining era in her career.
“Stepping into the new You requires letting go of the old you! Tomorrow is the end of a very significant chapter in my life! For 13 years radio has been my identity! It’s time for change! Tomorrow, I will host my last show on Kiss FM,” she announced.
Her co-host, Kerry Martin, echoed a similarly emotional farewell as he reflected on his journey in the industry that began over a decade ago.
“As I hang up the mic tomorrow, I do it with a full heart. Grateful. Humbled. Ready. It’s been 11 years on radio. From my first show on Homeboyz Radio in 2014 to wrapping up Kenya’s biggest breakfast show on Kiss 100, this journey has been nothing short of a blessing,” he said.
Their exits come less than a week after a major shake-up at Radio Africa Group, where 27 staff members were laid off as part of a cost-cutting measure tied to broader restructuring efforts.
It remains unclear whether Kwambox and Kerry Martin are part of those affected by the layoffs, or if their departures were voluntary and coincidental.
In a memo dated April 25, 2025, Radio Africa Group CEO Martin Khafafa explained the move was aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the business.
“This was the most challenging moment in our journey. These individuals have been part of our team for many years, some for over 20 years,” the internal statement read.
This wave of changes follows a restructuring strategy announced back in July 2024, a year after the company shuttered Kiss TV. Radio Africa Group remains a major player in Kenya’s media landscape, owning Classic FM, The Star newspaper, Radio Jambo, Gukena FM, Mpasho, East FM, and Homeboyz Radio—where Kerry’s own radio career began.
