Former US First Lady Michelle Obama has finally addressed the rumors of a split between her and former President Barack Obama, setting the record straight during a candid conversation with actress Sophia Bush on the Work In Progress podcast.

Michelle clarified that her reduced public presence and absence from certain political events were intentional decisions aimed at reclaiming her time and prioritizing her mental and emotional well-being.

“I was making a choice,” she said. “I get to look at my calendar—and this year was a big example—at something I was supposed to do, and I chose what was best for me, not what others expected of me.”

Her noticeable absence from events like Donald Trump’s second inauguration and President Jimmy Carter’s funeral had sparked speculation about possible marital strife. However, Michelle dismissed these rumors, emphasizing that her marriage remains intact and that her decisions have more to do with personal growth and shifting priorities since leaving the White House eight years ago.

Now that her daughters, Malia and Sasha, are grown, Michelle says she feels free to live life on her own terms
