Kenyan musician and police officer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, is facing disciplinary action from the National Police Service following his involvement in a controversial performance that is said to have mocked President William Ruto.
The action comes after a video emerged showing Samidoh participating in chants of “wantam”—a slang term for “one term”—widely used by political opponents of President Ruto as a call to deny him a second term in the 2027 general election.
According to reports, the artist allegedly conformed to and even led the crowd in the chant during a recent entertainment event held in a local club. The act is being viewed as political dissent, which, for a serving police officer, is considered a breach of the code of conduct.
Police authorities have since confirmed that disciplinary measures have been instituted against him for what they describe as behavior unbecoming of an officer of the law.
Samidoh, who balances a music career with his duties in the police service, has not yet publicly responded to the allegations or the disciplinary action.
