A carpenter died after falling from the ninth floor of a building under construction at the Lumumba Affordable Housing Project in the Kaloleni area of Kondele, Kisumu County.

The incident occurred on June 10, with police identifying the deceased as John Okoth Tosho. According to initial reports, Tosho was working at the site when he slipped and fell, landing on the ground below. He died on the spot.

Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was formally pronounced dead. His body was later transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

Authorities say such fatal workplace accidents are unfortunately common at construction sites, often raising concerns about inadequate safety protocols.
