Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has issued a fiery statement accusing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of allegedly funding and orchestrating violence during recent youth-led protests in Embu town and Kiritiri.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Mbarire condemned the destruction caused during the demos and claimed that what appeared to be spontaneous protests had been “hijacked and weaponized” by political forces with the intent of sabotaging her leadership.

“These protests were not organic. They were strategically infiltrated by goons acting on orders from certain political quarters. We know where the instructions came from,” Mbarire stated while touring the vandalized sites in Embu.

According to the governor, the plan was allegedly hatched during a recent political meeting coinciding with the launch of Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) aspirants in Embu town. She accused Gachagua and unnamed local leaders of mobilizing criminal elements to incite chaos.

“This is no longer about expressing grievances. It’s about undermining Embu’s stability and paralyzing services. I will not allow political theatrics to chase away investors,” she added.

Governor Mbarire urged national investigative bodies such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the orchestrators behind the chaos and ensure accountability.
