Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya – A 23-year-old mechanic tragically lost his life on June 14, 2025, after a lorry tyre burst during repair and fatally struck him in the face in Kaptagat, located within Flax trading centre.
According to a report by local authorities, the deceased, identified as Shadrack Kipkorir Kiptoo, was conducting a tyre repair at around 5:00 PM when the high-pressure tyre exploded, splitting his head into two and killing him instantly.
“It was a devastating scene. The tyre exploded with such force that there was no chance of survival,” said a police officer based at Kaptagat Police Station.
Body Taken to Kamwosor Sub-County Hospital
Following the incident, the deceased’s body was transferred to Kamwosor Sub-county Hospital morgue, where it awaits a postmortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death.
