Nation Media Group (NMG) has officially announced the retirement of its long-serving Board Chairman, Dr. Wilfred Kiboro, marking the end of a distinguished era at the helm of the media giant. In a notice dated June 6, the company revealed that Joseph Muganda will take over as the new Chairman effective June 27, 2025, following the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Dr. Kiboro, who has played a pivotal role in steering NMG through years of transformation and growth, is stepping down after an illustrious career. His successor, Joseph Muganda, joined the NMG board on November 1, 2024, and brings with him a wealth of experience from top executive roles across multiple sectors.

“The Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC is pleased to announce that Mr Joseph Muganda has been appointed to take over the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC from the long-serving Chairman, Dr. Wilfred Kiboro,” said company secretary Angela Namwakira in the statement.

Muganda is a seasoned business leader, having served as CEO of VIVO Energy Kenya (Shell Licensee), Kenya Breweries Limited, and British American Tobacco—firms that are all recognized as market leaders in their respective industries. Notably, Muganda also held the position of Group Chief Executive Officer at NMG from 2015 to 2018.

NMG will hold its AGM on June 27, when the leadership transition is expected to be formally ratified.
