President William Ruto has directed the National Police Service to extend full cooperation to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) in order to speed up investigations into the death of Albert Ojwang.
“I call on the National Police Service to fully cooperate with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority and to take every necessary measure to facilitate a swift, transparent, and credible investigation into the death of Ojwang,” said President William Ruto.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the Head of State described Ojwang’s death while in police custody as both “heartbreaking and unacceptable.”
“I strongly condemn the actions and omissions, including any negligence or outright criminality that may have contributed to his untimely death,” he said.
While expressing his dismay over the incident, President Ruto emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability.
He added that he expects the investigation to reveal what transpired and assured the public that justice will prevail.
