A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, at Barnabas stage in the Pipeline area of Nakuru County, following a fuel tanker explosion that quickly escalated, engulfing multiple tankers in flames.

Video footage from the scene showed the fierce blaze consuming several tankers as thick smoke billowed into the air. Emergency response teams swiftly moved in, battling the fire as it threatened to spread to adjacent areas.

The exact cause of the initial explosion remains unclear, but preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties reported as of Saturday morning.

The inferno led to the temporary closure of the busy Nakuru–Nairobi Highway, causing major traffic disruptions and rendering the key transport corridor impassable for several hours.

Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the explosion and assess the extent of the damage. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes as fire crews continued containment and cooling operations.
