At least two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel lost their lives on Saturday, June 14, after a Kenya Air Force fixed-wing aircraft crashed in the Ndavaya area of Kinango, Kwale County.
The ill-fated plane, bearing registration number KAF 718, went down around 12:06 p.m., approximately 27 minutes after departing Mombasa at 11:39 a.m., according to flight tracking records.
Eyewitnesses at the crash site confirmed that there were no survivors on board. The cause of the tragic accident remains unknown as investigations by military and aviation authorities get underway.
The aircraft reportedly disappeared from radar screens near Diani shortly before the crash, raising questions about potential mechanical failure or other in-flight emergencies.
The Kenya Defence Forces are expected to issue an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident and steps being taken to establish the cause of the crash.
