A Narok-based businessman and licensed firearm holder is in police custody after fatally shooting a fellow reveller during a heated argument over a parking space at a popular club in Narok Town.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning, July 12, in the parking yard of the club, according to police reports.
The victim, Mandela Nabala, aged 35, was allegedly shot in the chin during the altercation. He was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“It began as a dispute over who was blocking whom,” a police source revealed, confirming the suspect fired a round from a Glock pistol, fatally injuring Nabala.
Officers responding to the scene recovered the firearm, which had 14 rounds of ammunition, and collected a spent cartridge as evidence.
The suspect’s vehicle was impounded, and he was detained at the local police station pending investigations. Police have launched a full probe into the shooting, with a postmortem scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
This latest incident has reignited debate over the abuse of licensed firearms in civilian hands and the rising cases of gun violence in entertainment venues.
