Nairobi, Kenya – July 19, 2025:  Former Chief Justice David Maraga has officially joined Kenya’s political arena. On Friday, July 18, 2025, he launched a volunteer-driven campaign platform on X (formerly Twitter). He described the move as a response to Kenya’s growing leadership crisis.

According to Maraga, the country is grappling with an unfair tax regime, increasing debt, and high living costs. Moreover, he accused the government of ignoring the very youth meant to lead Kenya’s future.

“This Is Our Moment,” Says Maraga

Maraga acknowledged the country’s serious challenges. He also expressed optimism that this is a turning point.

“Yes, we face serious challenges—rising debt, an unfair tax system, and a government that has turned its back on the very generation meant to lead us forward, including by killing, injuring, and maiming them.”

Despite ongoing protests, he emphasized that this is an opportunity to rebuild.

“It’s our chance to imagine and build a Kenya that works for everyone. A nation powered by bold ideas in energy, Artificial Intelligence, and innovation.”

A Different Leadership Style

In a recent television interview, Maraga outlined the kind of leadership he aims to offer. Unlike traditional politicians, he promised to focus on results.

“I am not an expert in everything. What I want to offer Kenyans is leadership. I will be like a captain: get competent people in key positions, give them the confidence to work, and demand results.”

A Call for Nationwide Participation

Maraga has urged Kenyans to help shape this vision. He asked citizens to volunteer time and skills or donate financially. Most importantly, he stressed the need for collective ownership.

“Whether you volunteer your time, contribute your ideas, or donate, you are helping us shape the Kenya of our most courageous dreams.”

His message resonated with many. Supporters from across the country sent him messages of encouragement.

“Kenya is not just a nation—it is US. It is the laughter of our children, the resilience of our communities, the dreams we carry in our hearts.”

From Judiciary to Presidency

Maraga is widely respected for his time as Chief Justice. During his tenure, he upheld judicial independence and defended the Constitution. Notably, he led the historic nullification of the 2017 presidential election.
