A 29-year-old school guard was fatally stabbed in the chest after an argument over a woman turned deadly outside a supermarket in Keroka Town on Wednesday.
According to police, the victim, who worked at a local school, had just met a woman near the supermarket and engaged her in a brief conversation when another man approached, claiming to be the woman’s boyfriend. What started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into violence.
The assailant drew a knife and stabbed the guard on the right side of the chest. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“The deceased had a deep stab wound on the right side of his chest,” said a police officer at Keroka Police Station. “The body has been moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination.”
Both the alleged assailant and the woman have since been arrested to assist police with ongoing investigations.
This tragic incident adds to the growing number of crimes of passion being reported in Kenyan towns, particularly involving disputes sparked by romantic jealousy.
Police say they are preparing a case that could lead to murder charges against the suspect.
