NAIROBI, Kenya – Renowned Kenyan actress and DJ, Pierra Makena, has spoken candidly about the painful experience of being abandoned while five months pregnant, and how it left her deeply fearful of relationships and marriage.
In a heartfelt interview, the 43-year-old mother of one revealed that her former partner — the father of her daughter — married another woman just five months into her pregnancy.
“When I dated my baby daddy, he wasn’t someone’s husband. It was just the two of us. Sh!t happened, I got knocked up, and five months later he married someone else,” she revealed.
DJ Pierra, who is also a celebrated actress and media personality, addressed ongoing misconceptions that she got involved with a married man — firmly denying those claims.
“They met after we had broken up. There’s this misconception that I got pregnant for a married man — that’s not true,” she clarified.
The betrayal left her emotionally wounded and wary of marriage. Despite still believing in the institution, DJ Pierra confessed that she lives with “marriage-fear” due to her past.
“I love marriage. I’m just scared of making a mistake. I don’t believe in divorce the same way I didn’t believe in being a single mother. I believe that if I vow to love somebody, there’s no going back.”
Now raising her eight-year-old daughter on her own, DJ Pierra admits that her painful experience reshaped her views on commitment and vulnerability.
Still, she hasn’t entirely closed the door on her daughter’s father.
“If I was to date him right now, it would still be fine — because he still doesn’t have a wife,” she added, hinting at the possibility of reconciliation.
