A 34-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal attack of his 57-year-old father in what police suspect was a land-related dispute in Gelegele village, Sotik, Bomet County.

The body of Benjamin Maritim, 57, was discovered along the Gorgor-Gelegele road near Kenegut village. According to police, the body was found in a pool of blood at the entrance to his farm from the main road.

Authorities reported that Maritim had sustained several deep head injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp object.

The suspect, believed to be the deceased’s son, was apprehended in the area shortly after the incident.

Police indicated they are looking into claims that the father and son had ongoing disagreements over land matters.

The body has been moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination and further investigations.
