Busia County, Kenya – July 28, 2025
Police in Busia County have launched a murder investigation after the body of an unidentified man was found with severe head injuries behind Pramukh Cash and Carry Supermarket early on Sunday morning, July 27.
According to law enforcement sources, the man was discovered lying motionless behind the supermarket premises with his head severely deformed, raising strong suspicion that he was struck with a blunt object.
A red motorcycle, believed to be connected to the deceased, was also found at the scene, further deepening the mystery surrounding his identity and the circumstances of his death.
Police Investigations Underway
Police officers from Busia Police Station cordoned off the scene and launched a forensic examination, gathering evidence and interviewing locals. Investigators believe the killing could have occurred overnight, possibly as a result of a robbery, personal feud, or gang-related violence.
“We suspect foul play. The victim had clear blunt force trauma to the head. We are currently working to establish his identity and motive for the murder,” said one senior officer who spoke to Nation Africa on condition of anonymity.
The body was transferred to Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted. Police are also relying on CCTV footage from nearby buildings to piece together the events leading to the fatal attack.

Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the deceased, who had no identification documents on him at the time of discovery. Anyone with a missing family member or information is urged to report to Busia Police Station.
