Two men have been arrested in Nakuru County following the death of a woman after a violent domestic altercation turned fatal in the Kabatini area on June 30, 2025.
The deceased, identified as Mary Wanjiru, 36, was allegedly assaulted by her husband and his male friend during a heated confrontation that began on their way home and escalated once they reached the house.
According to police, neighbours called authorities after hearing the woman being attacked. By the time help arrived, she had been severely injured.
“She had sustained multiple blows to the head and chest. The assault was carried out using bare fists,” officers reported.
Wanjiru was rushed to Kabatini Dispensary, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Initial investigations revealed that the couple had a verbal disagreement that escalated into a physical altercation involving the husband and his friend.
“They were walking home together when the disagreement started. It continued at home, where the two men allegedly ganged up to beat the woman,” a police source told sauce.co.ke.
The body was transferred to a local mortuary pending post-mortem examination, as police continue their murder investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that both suspects are in police custody, and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete. Officers are treating the incident as a serious case of gender-based violence and homicide.
