At least seven people lost their lives and 11 others were seriously injured in a tragic road accident on Friday evening at Kijauri Junction along the Kisii–Sotik highway.

According to authorities, the crash occurred after a public service vehicle collided head-on with a private car at the busy junction. The impact left multiple passengers trapped in the wreckage, with three victims currently in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

The injured were rushed to local medical facilities for emergency treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for identification and postmortem.

Traffic police and investigators have since launched a probe into the cause of the crash, which adds to the growing list of accidents on Kenyan roads in recent weeks.
