Police in Migori County have opened investigations into the gruesome murder of a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officer who was fatally stabbed outside a popular entertainment joint in Muhuru Town, Nyatike South Sub-County, on Thursday night.

The officer, identified as Gilbert Kibet, was off-duty and heading home when he was attacked by a civilian outside Genasa Bar and Restaurant, according to a police incident report.

Kibet, who was stabbed on the left side of his neck, succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Nyatike South Deputy County Commissioner Festus Kimeu confirmed the incident, saying:

“The motive behind the killing is yet to be established, and investigations are underway.”

The suspect, identified only by the nickname “Boy,” fled the scene and remains at large. Security agencies have launched a manhunt as they seek to uncover the motive and track down the attacker.

The body of the deceased has been moved to Migori County Referral Hospital for postmortem examination. Authorities are urging anyone with information to report to the nearest police station or call the National Police Service hotline.
