Migori, Kenya – July 24, 2025 : Investigators in Migori are looking into the tragic murder of Michael Odhiambo Omamba, 30, the son of former Uriri MP Haman Omamba, who someone stabbed to death near his home in Migori Town.
Shocking Discovery Near His Home
According to police reports, authorities discovered Michael’s body early Wednesday morning, lying on the roadside approximately 20 meters from his residence. He had suffered a deep stab wound to the chest, which authorities believe led to his immediate death.
“Nothing was taken from him. His wallet and phone were still intact,” said Migori County Police Commander, adding weight to the suspicion that this was a targeted attack.
A mutual friend reportedly saw Michael earlier in a local bar, just hours before they found his lifeless body.The identity and whereabouts of this friend remain under investigation.
Family Demands Swift Justice
Michael was not only the son of a former MP, but also the brother of North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba, who has since joined his family in calling for a full and thorough investigation.
“We need answers. We need justice,” George told local media outside the Migori morgue, where the body was taken pending autopsy.
The motive for the murder remains unclear, but police are treating it as premeditated, given the nature of the wound and the lack of robbery indicators.
Police Investigations Underway
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are on the case and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Investigations are being led by Migori DCI in collaboration with homicide experts from Nairobi.
